Xbox Game Pass Core subscribers start with a larger library of over 25 games, where new PS Plus subscribers only start with three or four games depending on the month in which they subscribed. This is where the distinction between the two services becomes somewhat more complicated. However, these games don't expire at the end of the month - they're the player's to keep as long as they're subscribed. The monthly games are well varied there's usually at least one big-name AAA title and at least one cult classic. If a player subscribed to PS Plus today, they'd only be able to access the three titles that make up this month's PlayStation Plus Essential games. While higher tiers like PS Plus Extra and Premium are nearly identical to Xbox Game Pass - players pick from an ever-growing library of free games - PS Plus Essential grants players a handful of free games each month. The PlayStation Plus model of game distribution, however, works somewhat differently.
